Episode 1 - Are we REALLY listening to those we are serving?
Callie is a Social Entrepreneur with an extensive history in international relations and social business. She has over 15 years of branding and marketing experience and has over a decade of international work! She is currently the Director of Communications for La Pointe Foundation - a non-profit charity that develops locally sustainable solutions in the areas of Healthcare, Education, and Entrepreneurship.
I first learned of Callie when I was browsing my Instagram feed and saw an organization pop up by the name of La Pointe Foundation. At the time they had about 50 followers on the instagram page and I thought that they may be a start up non-profit. I later found out that they were founded in 2016 by a husband and wife duo - Caleb and Charlotte Whitmore. With love in their hearts and a desire to make a difference, they created La Pointe Foundation.
During this episode, we talk about:
Callie’s experience going from a corporate designing job to becoming a Christian and going on mission trips
What it’s like living as an American in an incredibly intense environment like Haiti
The job market… or lack there of
The connection between human trafficking and orphanages
La Pointe Foundation’s approach to fighting material poverty
Why bringing volunteers into a country can sometimes be detrimental to those we serve.and much more!
