Rise Against Hunger / Robert Whitaker
How packing meals for the underserved can be the first step toward sustainable development
On this episode, I got the privilege of speaking with Robert Whitaker, Assistant Community Engagement Manager for the Non-Profit Organization, Rise Against Hunger! Rise Against Hunger is a movement with a mission to end hunger by empowering communities, nourishing lives, and responding to emergencies worldwide.
The path to working within the Non-Profit sector never seems to be a straight trajectory and Robert’s journey is no different! He started off within the field of politics, then found himself teaching English in South Korea, and is now working for Rise Against Hunger.
What strikes me most about this conversation is how much Rise Against Hunger is doing to ensure self-sufficiency and empowerment in the communities they work in.
And it all starts with a healthy packed meal…
During this episode, we talk about…
Roberts early journey in the field of politics and the 180 pivot he made into the world of nonprofits/global health
The mission, vision, and pillars of Rise Against Hunger
How the meal-packing programs build greater camaraderie, friendship, and community
Current projects occurring in several countries around the world focusing on sustainable development
How the pandemic affected the number of lives served and how Rise Against Hunger pivoted its strategy during difficult times
and much more…
