How a young woman named Esperanza became the driving factor to create better access to healthcare worldwide…

We speak with Sharon Allen, Executive Director of the World Telehealth Initiative (WTI), and how they strive to bring the best healthcare to low and middle income countries around the world.

The World Telehealth Initiative was founded on the basis of “revolutionizing global healthcare by providing quality medical expertise where and when it is needed.” They partner with InTouch Health (currently being acquired by Teledoc) by providing virtual care device donations in parallel with physician volunteers to provide services around the world.

Sharon was not always immersed in the field of healthcare. In fact, before she became a leader for WTI, she was the CEO of a 9 branch landscape distributor company. Crazy different, right? I’d say so. Learn how the universe paved her way into the field of healthcare and serving others. This is an episode you won’t want to miss!

During this episode, we talk about…

  • Why Sharon decided she needed a change in career

  • The serendipitous meeting of Dr. Yulun Wang (Founder of InTouch Health)

  • Sharon speaks about how she gets to work with the best of humanity

  • What the telehealth system looks like…

  • How a young woman named Esperanza became Sharon’s biggest champion and motivates her to do better each day

  • And much more!
